Center for Art Law invites you New York City for our 2022 Art Law Conference!
This summer, Center for Art Law is pleased to present an art law conference at/from the state of the art headquarters of New York Law School in the heart of New York City. The conference will celebrate exciting and contemporary topics on all things art and law, including:
- Immigration Law and Asylum for Artists;
- Thinking Creatively about Estate and Legacy Planning for Artists; and
- Artist-Dealer Relationships in the 21st Century.
We are pleased to feature a keynote presentation on KleptoCapture task force and Anti-Money Laundering efforts concerning the art market.
Attendance will be available both in-person and online to best serve our community members and patrons. Attendees will receive continued legal education credits as well as enjoy countless networking and growth opportunities.
Center extends a special invitation to the Conference for the Judith Bresler students who studied art law at NYLS.
Program
The themes explored in Art Law Conference 2022 are based on the Center for Art Law’s Legal Clinics. In addition, a reception will be held following the final panel in honor of Judith Bresler, a recognized leader in the field and a co-author of the seminal Art Law treatise, after whom the Center launched the Judith Bresler Fellowship in 2021. The evening will conclude with an art tour highlighting the collection of artwork at New York Law School, including works from artists such as Emilio Sanchez and Keith Haring, among several others (including New York Law School alumni and professors!)
Reception for networking and reunion will follow the substantive portion of the day.

Continuing Legal Education Credits: This program is approved for 3.5 CLE credits in accordance with the requirements of the New York State CLE Boards. Attendees will receive a maximum of 0.5 Ethics and 3.0 Professional Practice (Approved for Non-Transitional and Transitional Attorneys) credits. Out-of-state attendees will have to apply to their states’ CLE Board for credit. Please note that if you wish to receive CLE credit, you must purchase a legal professional ticket.
CLE Credits for this program are offered by the New York Law School for New York State credits.

Set out here are other in-person Meeting policies, including our cancellation, refund, and substitution policies.
Fees and Registration Requirements:
All attendees for the in-person Center for Art Law Art Law Conference 2022 must be registered. Your registration entitles you to participate in either the in-person Meeting or the online Meeting portal.
Member and Non-Member Registration:
To enjoy the member registration rate for the Center for Art Law Art Law Conference 2022, you must already have a premium membership subscription with the Center at the time of registration.
If you are not a premium member, or choose not to renew your membership and proceed with your Art Law Conference 2022 registration, you will pay the non-member rate. The difference between the premium member and non-premium member registration rate will not be refunded if you renew for your next annual year’s subscription after you have registered for the Art Law Conference 2022 event.
Payment
Payment for the Art Law Conference registration is by credit card, or PayPal, check and through the Eventbrite or Center for Art Law platform only. All payment is due upon registration.
Cancellations, Refunds and Substitutions
In the instance that Center for Art Law needs to cancel the conference event for any reason, registration fees will be refunded, minus any Eventbrite fees or additional donations made to the Center by registrants.
Refunds
Full refunds for any in-person registration fee paid will be issued only if a cancellation request is received by Wednesday, July 20, 2022, 11:59 pm United States Eastern Time.
Full refunds for any in-person registration fee, minus a cancellation fee of US $50, will be issued for cancellations requested after Thursday, July 21, 2022.
No cancellation requests for in-person registration fees will be accepted, and no refunds will be given, beyond Tuesday, July 26, 2022, 11:59 pm United States Eastern Time.
No cancellation requests for online registration fees will be offered.
Substitutions
Your registration for the online and in-person conference event is transferable to another person upon request.
To facilitate the substitution process, please email artlawteam@itsartlaw.org the specific reason for the substitution and the name and email address of the person attending in your place.
Participation Requirements
Access
Only persons registered for Art Law Conference Meeting will have access to the New York Law School meeting spaces. Any costs associated with your attendance for the in-person Art Law Conference shall be paid solely by you, and we shall have no liability for such expenses.
Art Law Conference Content
You acknowledge and agree that Center for Art Law, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to change aspects of the Art Law Conference, including but not limited to the Art Law Conference name, themes, content, program, speakers, hosts, moderators, venue, and time.
Use of Likeness
By participating in the Art Law Conference, you acknowledge and agree to grant us the right at the Art Law Conference to record, film, live stream, photograph, or capture your likeness in any media now available or hereafter developed and to distribute, broadcast, use, or otherwise globally to disseminate, in perpetuity, such media without any further approval from you or any payment to you. This grant to Center for Art Law includes the right to edit such media, use the media alone or together with other information, and allow others to use or disseminate the media. All media becomes the property of Center for Art Law.

We give no warranties regarding any aspect of the Art Law Conference, or any materials related to it or offered at these events and disclaim all implied warranties, including but not limited to warranties of fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, timeliness, and merchantability. Privacy Notice to Registrants on Personal Information Collected by Center for Art Law in conjunction with the Art Law Conference
Center for Art Law collects personal information to enable your Art Law Conference registration, including Preferred Name / First Name, Last Name, Registrant Email, Job Titles, Organization Name, and other contact details. This information may be shared with select third parties that perform services for Center for Art Law and New York Law School in connection with the Art Law Conference, including database management services, sponsors, and networking tools, when applicable.
Health and Safety
Center for Art Law cares about the health and safety of its Art Law Conference registrants and participants.
The Center is partnering with New York Law School in New York, NY, USA to host the Art Law Conference 2022. New York Law School has implemented a variety of protocols and practices in response to the pandemic. For the most up-to-date information, please visit the NYLS website regularly.
Set out below are some of the health and safety precautions that will be in place during Art Law Conference 2022. As the health and safety guidelines related to COVID-19 (and its variants) are continually developing globally, our health and safety precautions are subject to change, and we reserve the right to do so.

Registrant Requirements
As of June 16, 2022, our health and safety precautions are as follows:
- Social Distancing—Social distancing will be determined based on health and safety guidelines in New York City, NY and the New York Law School during the Art Law Conference
- Masks—Mask mandates will be determined based on health and safety guidelines in New York City, NY and New York Law School at the time of the Art Law Conference. Currently, masking is required at New York Law School. Given this, Center for Art Law requires that registrants wear them while attending the Meeting unless actively eating or drinking. Eating and drinking are only permitted in designated areas.
- Proof of Vaccination and Booster – NYLS requires all students, faculty, staff, and guests to submit proof of COVID-19 Vaccination and one booster. Attendees are required to submit their proof of vaccination and booster as soon as possible via this link. Attendees who are not fully vaccinated must present at entry the results of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of the event. Rapid antigen or PCR tests are acceptable; home tests are not.
- Limited Attendance—Capacity limitations in and around New York Law School will follow local and facility recommendations and health and safety guidelines during the Art Law Conference.
- Communications—We will have regular communication with all registrants about health and safety guidelines.
All registrants must adhere to all health and safety guidelines and policies implemented by Center for Art Law, our partners, and our hosts throughout the entire Art Law Conference. Registrants who do not comply with our COVID-19 health and safety precautions will not be permitted to enter or remain on the premises. Under these circumstances, registrants will not be provided with a refund.
Registrant Duty to Self-Monitor
Registrants agree to self-monitor for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 (symptoms typically include fever, cough, and shortness of breath).
Registrants understand and acknowledge that if they join in-person at the Art Law Conference, they are affirming that they are not experiencing any signs or symptoms of COVID-19.
Liability Waiver, Assumption of Risk, and Release of Claims
We have instituted health and safety precautions consistent with the WHO guidance, local governmental agencies, health authorities, and best practices recommended by New York Law School, where we will be hosting the Art Law Conference. In some instances, we have gone above and beyond these guidelines to reduce the risk of exposure to, infection with, and spread of COVID-19 (including its variants).
However, despite our good faith efforts to establish and implement health and safety guidelines to minimize exposure to COVID-19, we cannot guarantee against potential exposure to and spread of COVID-19 at the Art Law Conference. By voluntarily registering and participating, Art Law Conference registrants understand, acknowledge, and assume the risk of potential exposure to COVID-19 (including its variants) at the Art Law Conference.
BY REGISTERING FOR THE ART LAW CONFERENCE, YOU ARE RELEASING CENTER FOR ART LAW, ITS STAFF, EXHIBITORS, SPONSORS, VENDOR PARTNERS, EMPLOYEES, VOLUNTEERS AND OTHER MEETING REGISTRANTS FROM ALL CLAIMS, DEMANDS, DAMAGES, COSTS, OR LIABILITIES (COLLECTIVELY “CLAIMS”) ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO YOUR VACCINATION VERIFICATION PROCESS, USE OF ANY SPONSORED ITEMS OR GIVEAWAYS BY EXHIBITORS/SPONSORS, PARTICIPATION, ATTENDANCE OR OTHER INVOLVEMENT WITH THE ART LAW CONFERENCE, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY CLAIMS RELATED TO EXPOSURE TO, INFECTION WITH, OR SPREAD OF COVID-19 (INCLUDING ITS VARIANTS).
YOU AGREE TO FOREGO ALL RIGHTS TO SUE CENTER FOR ART LAW AND ITS VENDOR PARTNERS FOR ANY REASON RELATED TO OR ARISING FROM YOUR PARTICIPATION, ATTENDANCE, OR OTHER INVOLVEMENT WITH OUR CENTER FOR ART LAW ART LAW CONFERENCE, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY CLAIMS RELATED TO EXPOSURE TO, INFECTION WITH, OR SPREAD OF COVID-19 (INCLUDING ITS VARIANTS), AND ASSUME ALL RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH YOUR ATTENDANCE.
THIS WAIVER, ASSUMPTION OF THE RISK, AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY SHALL BE CONSTRUED BROADLY TO PROVIDE A RELEASE AND WAIVER TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMISSIBLE UNDER APPLICABLE LAW.
