Patrick Ansel opened the first Family Farm Stores in Dumas, Texas, in October 1998. The son of a Nebraskan rancher who became a feed store owner, Ansel spent 16 years working for a chain of farm stores before opening his own 10,000-square-foot store on 2.5 acres of land.
