Often what feels like the longest month of the year, January is nearly behind us! I’ve been keeping warm in the PNW with many of this month’s top sellers — cozy sweaters and sweats, wool coats and neutral boots. I’m excited to share my two cents on everything in today’s post — and many of them are included in end of season sales! Read on for all of the details.
Zella Studio Lite 7/8 Pocket Leggings xs- My all-time favorite leggings are on major sale right now for under $30! The 7/8 length makes them great for petites.
Gap Faux Leather Cheeky Straight Pants petite 25- These pants are petite-friendly, so soft, comfortable and are at such a great price point. I sized up for more room. Currently on sale!
Rag & Bone Rover Boot 5- These suede boots are a splurge that are worth the investment. I love them so much I have two colors! Run TTS.
DL1961 Patti Straight High Rise Ankle Jeans 25- Can’t say enough good things about these white jeans. I went up a size, but they stretch so go TTS. Super comfortable and a beautiful eggshell color.
Sam Edelman Thatcher Boot 5- Boots in this eggshell color are harder to find, and I’m happy to share these are a great find. Plus, they’re on major sale!
Gap Oversized Turtleneck Sweater petite xs- This Toteme sweater dupe is such a great price point and it’s on sale! Love the thick collar. It also comes in several solid and stripe colorways.
Lulu & Georgia Oval Dining Table– Lots of home decor questions lately, including our dining table. Fits six people and also comes in a lighter color.
Supergoop! Glowscreen– This has been my go-to face sunscreen for years now! I love the color/coverage it provides and the way it feels more like skincare than it does sunscreen. It also leaves my skin looking so dewy and pretty.
Gap Vintage Soft Sweatshirt and Joggers Set xs- I wore this sweat set for Christmas and it’s been a weekly bestseller ever since. It’s so cozy, comes in lots of colors and is very affordable (and currently on sale!)
Mango Belted Wool Coat xxs- Last by not least, this lightweight wool coat with an oversized fit! I love it so much I have it grey too. It comes in multiple colors, is not lined and drapes beautifully. Love how versatile it is — dress it up or down!
Hope you all are enjoying a nice holiday season! Since the week between Christmas and the New Year lends itself to organizing, reassessing, relaxing and snagging some great end-of-season sales, I thought I’d round up this month’s top sellers. From comfortable and chic footwear to great-fitting denim and pants, so many of them are fall/winter
Because January always feels like it drags on, I thought I’d share 3 go-to winter outfits to help motivate you to get dressed this month. All 3 are easily layerable (is that word?), you can pull from your existing wardrobe, and above all, they’re comfy. If you’re looking for great winter basics, I highly recommend checking out Nordstrom.com. I’m sharing my latest favorites below.
Sweaty Betty Hoodie xs – I’ve raved about this pullover from Sweaty Betty before and this hoodie is just as good! Perfectly oversized, which has been hard to find with sweatshirts lately. Take your normal size, btw. It’s long enough to cover your bum, so great with leggings. The slits on the sides are a nice detail, too.
Vuori Leggings xs – These are so soft and ridiculously comfortable! The material is less stretchy and more of the sweat wicking material, if that makes sense. I also love the drawstring at the waist. Some leggings can be tight in the waist, making them a little uncomfortable to lounge around in (tight and high waisted). These are not overly tight in the waist and the drawstring allows you to control it. They’re also very elongating. If you’re petite and in the market for flattering, versatile leggings, these are a must have!
Nike Air Max Sneakers 6 – The most comfortable Nike sneakers I’ve owned! I went up a half size, but I even think you can go up a full size. I’m normally a 5.5 in Nike and got the 6 (and normally a 5 in all shoes). I’ve gotten so much wear out of these over the last 2+ years. These are overall great athleisure sneakers and you could even workout in them (I wouldn’t run in them). They provide a little added height, which I’m always a fan of. Love how chic they are too!
Vagabond Shoemakers Booties 6- The perfect fall/winter black bootie! These pair so well with straight-leg jeans as the shaft is snug and high. The leather isn’t overly smooth or soft, so you can get a lot of wear out of these. I’ve even worn them in the rain and dirt and they’ve held up well.
Nordstrom Cashmere Scarf – This scarf is currently on sale! The perfect grey and so soft and lightweight, yet still warm. It’s also no super overwhelming, but not overly thin. Comes in a handful of colors.
Madewell Sweatshirt and Sweatpants xxs – This is litterally the softest sweat set ever! It’s a faded black, almost gray color. It also runs big, so size down, But man, it’s so comfy and I love that the sweats have pockets!
Outsider Supply Cap – This cap shows it’s sold out, but if you can get your hands on one of these (another color), do it! It’s simple, minimal, and small – so great for small heads!
Special thank you to Nordstrom for partnering on this post.
I’m excited to bring back these style roundup posts on topics that are directly related to what you all want to see! After asking for your input, it was clear that Converse high-top sneakers had to be the first! Fortunately, I have a lot of outfits to pull from because these sneakers work so well in all seasons. I’ve picked up several pairs in neutral hues over the past year or so, and love that they are such an effortless way to add a little edge to any look (plus they’re comfortable!) Pair with jeans, dress down trousers or experiment with different pant lengths — they’re so versatile. I love the nostalgic nod they give too — I’m sure most of us have worn Chuck Taylors in the past. If you’ve been searching for ways to style Converse high-tops, check out these 35 looks for inspiration.
I know we’re all finishing up our holiday shopping, but have you been slowly getting your winter wardrobes ready? I know many of you have been asking for winter boots and outerwear options, and I’m excited to share a few things I picked up from Nordstrom. I recently stocked up on a handful of fall/winter boots from Nordstrom during their Cyber Week and I also found the perfect petite shearling biker jacket last week. More on this jacket and recent purchases below.
Topshop Sweater Dress petite xs – An oversized, soft (not itchy), comfortable sweater dress. I wish it was a tad shorter for my 5ft frame, but if you’re taller than me, this is such a great option! I
Vince Cabria Boots Size 5.5 – Bought these boots during Cyber week and I love them! A light colored lug sole boot was missing in my closet and these are stunning! Waterproof suede, yes please! I did size up a half size in these.
Topshop Oversized Sweater Petite xs – While this is a petite size, it’s still quite oversized. The sleeves fit great but the body is longer and wide. This sweater reminds me of a Free People sweater, with the sleeves being more petite-friendly. I love the oversized turtleneck, too! You can definitely size down in this sweater.
Topshop Shearling Biker Jacket Petite 6 – Absolutely love this jacket! I initially ordered the petite 4, but needed the petite 6, so be sure to size up. The neutral color is so pretty and the faux leather is super soft. It’s also quite warm, too!
Sam Edelman Boots Size 5 – I found these in my search for light colored boots. I love that they’re not white, but they go with a lot of my neutral outfits. These are more roomier, so I went TTS, but can wear thick socks with them.
Topshop Long Puffer Coat petite 2 – This coat was super promising, except the sleeves ran a little too oversized for me. The torso fit extremely well, though. It’s also incredibly warm and comfortable.
Madewell Beanie – I have this beanie in multiple colors. If you’re not into extra slouch at the top of your beanie, this is a great option!
Special thank you to Nordstrom for partnering on this post.
Who’s holiday shopping during Cyber Week? My one-stop-shop has always been Nordstrom. Nordstrom does an awesome job in curating gifts for the whole family – kids, family, husbands, cousins, in-laws – you really can pick up something for everyone. In case you need some gift ideas, I’m sharing my top gifts I love to give below – all of them tried and true products I own and LOVE.
Ugg Slippers 5 – These are so cozy! If you know your family member or friend who wears slippers, these are so fun and warm and would make a great gift! They run TTS with room (but no need to size up).
Barefoot Dreams socks – If you love their blankets, you’ll love their socks. This is such a great way to gift something “Barefoot Dreams” without breaking the bank. They’re so cozy and warm.
Ilia Eye Set – I love Ilia makeup – it’s clean, simple, and works well. I use the gel eyeliner, mascara, and eyeshadow everyday. This set makes such a cute gift. I’m excited to try the wet eyeshadow.
Ugg Classic Mini II Boots Chestnut 5 – I’ve been getting questions about these lately and yes, I would 100% recommend. I wasn’t really an Ugg person, or so I thought, but after wearing these last year, I think these are a winter essential. They’re so easy to throw on for walks, errands, or play time outside. The super low shaft is great for petites, too! I took my normal size, but could easily size up a half size. They’re warm, comfy, and again just so easy to wear. These are a nice alternative to the Uggs Ultra Mini since those are sold out everywhere. The Uggs are a luxury and make the best gift – you know the person will wear these!
Our Place Pan – We love our Always Pan!!! I’ve used it to saute, serve, steam, and fry! The non-toxic, non-stick coating makes cooking and cleaning REALLY EASY. Aside from it being non-toxic and easy to use, I LOVE that you can serve it on the table and have it look beautiful. The pan is lightweight and just SO EASY to use. These make the BEST gifts!
Necessaire Body Lotion and Body Wash – I originally bought this during the NAS last year – everyone was trying it and I absolutely loved the branding. Well, I’m very much obsessed with their body lotion and body wash. The lotion is creamy and hydrating without a strong scent or feeling sticky. I’m very picky when it comes to my body lotion, and I put it on after every shower, so I have a lot of experience with body lotions, lol. This one is VERY good. The body wash is super lathering and smells divine. I also have used the body oil throughout my pregnancy and I’m obsessed! I can guarantee anyone you buy this for this holiday season will absolutely love it!
Supergoop Glow Screen – This is one of my holy grail products. This transforms my makeup and overall look. I love how big of an impact it has even when you don’t wear makeup. I’m all for a dewy look and this does it for me. Evens out my skin tone as well. If any ladies in your life are looking to oomph up their beauty routine, this makes a great gift! I also love the Glow Stick. Discovered this last summer and it’s so convenient! I’ll use it on the kids when they won’t let me put on their sunscreen on their face, lol.
Bernardo Coat small – You know how much I rave about my Bernardo coats. These are hands down the best affordable puffer coats that work on petite frames. They have a very flattering/feminine shape, aren’t super overwhelming, warm, and water-resistant. I love the length on this one for winter (a longer coat, but not too long). These make the perfect gift for mom, grandma, sister, mother-in-law.
Rails Sweater xs – If you’re looking for the Toteme sweater for less, this is it! The fit is amazing and I love the black and white color combo. It fits perfectly oversized, but I wouldn’t go down a size. This would make a beautiful classic gift.
Special thank you to Nordstrom for partnering on this post.
We’re officially 1 month out from Cam turning 1. I cannot believe it. 11 months with the sweetest little soul. It’s been everything and more. As a new-ish mom of 2 sometimes I have to remind myself that I’m a mom of 2 and that I have a son now. When you’re in the thick of it, the day-to-day grind, you can totally forget that this is your life.
New at 11 Months
Once 10 months hit, everything accelerated. He’s climbing up the stairs (climbing everything I should say), babbling more, pulling up on everything and anything, walking with us holding just one of his hands, and he’s even taken up to 6 steps alone. I can see him walking for his birthday. I think we were in the thick of a 10 month sleep regression and just major leaps because he was a crabfest for a good 3 weeks. He woke up one day as the happiest, silliest boy and we were like, “there’s our happy boy.” Now that I think about it, I remember Harper going through something similar at the same age. Cam’s also eating anything and everything. His appetite has grown tremendously. We did not experience this with Harper, so it’s all very new to us. Not going to lie, we’re loving it, lol.
Naps
Naps are getting better, but still not great. He actually took a 75 minute nap yesterday, but that’s rare. I’m not stressed about it too much since his schedule allows for it and he ends up going to bed earlier, which is great for us parents. He’ll do anywhere from 30-60 mins, twice a day.
Feedings
If you follow me on Stories, you saw me mention Cam going on a nursing strike. Man, that was an emotional roller coaster. I think it lasted 3 days. He would nurse fine in the morning and then boycott it for the rest of the feedings. I was stressed and made sure to pump to help with my supply (which was such an inconvenience, especially when you haven’t done it since the early days). I still don’t know what the cause was, but a couple things popped out to me. He may have been under the weather (although it wasn’t anything severe), he could have been going through a leap and was more interested in solids, my breast milk taste could have changed since I was ovulating and then eventually got my period for the first time since getting pregnant. I looked this up and it’s very much a thing. In case any other mamas are reading this and maybe going through something similar, hang in there. Baby knows what he/she is doing and will let you know how to move forward. We are still nursing 4x day, but feedings are a lot shorter after his nursing strike. He’s also eating a lot more solids, which is what he prefers, so we’re running with it.
Awake Time
We’re doing a set time of 9am for his first nap and then doing 3.5-3.75 of awake time before his 2nd nap. Then he’ll go to bed between 6-6:30pm. The man is all over the place these days. We actually had to get him a playpen, so we have a safe space for him if only one parent is home, we’re cooking, or if we need to use the restroom. He didn’t love it at first, but he’s getting used to it everyday. He’ll whine, but then we’ll refocus his attention on something else to buy more time. We’re getting longer stretches everyday. We did not go through a big crawling phase with Harper, so this is all new to us. He legit is everywhere and the second you take your eyes off him, he’s getting into something else or trying to stand and walk on his own, lol.
Bedtime
Cam had a few rough nights falling asleep while he was going through his 10 month sleep regression, but we’re back on track. It takes him about 10 minutes to fall asleep and then he’ll sleep through the night until about 6am. We recently switched his sleep sack from this one to the Dreamland weighted sleep sack. I was hoping it would help him nap longer, but I don’t think we’ve seen a ton of change. It is warm enough for winter, so that was another reason we switched.
Eczema Update
Cam recently had some eczema flare ups. I think it has to do with the temperature change – we went from 80 degrees to 40 overnight. He’s also been eating different foods, so maybe that’s contributing to this breakout. We are still using our 3 part concoction from Dr. Aron (more on that here). We haven’t stopped it completely because Cam continues to get eczema right under his ears on his face. We don’t typically use it anywhere else unless he has a flare up. Long term we may see a naturopath and get him tested for food allergies to see if we can get to the root cause.
Favorites at 11 Months
Playpen – Tried my best to find something minimal. It’s large, but they do have smaller ones. We’re using a foam play mat underneath. Has a little door. Cam is slowly getting used to it and it helps that Harper loves being in there, lol.
Mary Ruth’s Infant Vitamin D Drops – Been using this since Cam was an infant and keep forgetting to share. Flavorless and I just put it in his food.
Jenni Kayne Slippers – Pricey, but Cam wears these everyday. Easy to get on and off and easy for him to walk in.
Dreamland Sleep Sack – We just switched over to this. Love that it’s for winter and the extra weight is super cozy.
11 Month Schedule
6:30am – wakes and plays in crib 7:00am – grab him, change his clothes/diaper, and nurse 7:30am – awake time 8:00am – solids 9:00am – Nap 1
10:00am – wake and nurse 10:15am – play/awake time 12:00pm – solids/lunch 1:30pm – Nap 2
2:15pm – wake and nurse 2:45pm – play/awake time 4:00pm – solids/dinner 5:30pm – nurse 6:00pm – bedtime
I did a run down of fall shoes last year and it was a big hit, so I’m back sharing this years favorites with Nordstrom. There’s actually quite a few styles I’m excited about this season. Some are old favorites and others are new-to-me styles, which I think you’ll love. I’m sharing all the details below.
If you’re working on adding some fall shoes to your wardrobe, Nordstrom has such a great selection of high and low options right now.
Jeffrey Campbell Loafers 5 – These remind me so much of Gucci. The leather is soft and plush, but they do run really narrow, especially near the toe. You’ll probably want to go up a full size. These also come in a ton of colors, too.
Ugg Tasman Slippers 6 – I absolutely love these! Think slippers but for outdoors. They’re super comfortable and so warm. They do have a lip at the back of the slippers, so you’ll want to size up so your whole foot fits inside versus your heel laying on the lip. These come in an array of colors.
Birkenstock Shearling Clogs 5-5.5 – The Birkenstock Boston clogs are everywhere and the popular taupe color is sold out everywhere. This color is such a great alternative, I almost prefer more (seems more versatile in my wardrobe). I also think the shearling inside makes these more comfortable than the ones without. I haven’t walked a ton in them yet, so I don’t know how comfortable they are over time, but the shearling is so nice.
Sorel Out N About Boots 5 – These are a comfortable pair of winter boots. They’re actually a sneaker/boot hybrid so comfy, lightweight, and easy to walk in. They’re also waterproof!
Vagabond Marja Boots 6 – I’ve had these for a while now and recommend them every chance I get. These are the perfect everyday black boots. The leather is durable, they’re comfortable, and they’re very easy to wear. The shaft tall and narrow, so you can wear them with cropped jeans or full length jeans.
Sam Edelman Waterproof Chelsea Boots 5.5 – If you’re looking to try a lug sole boot, these are such a great option. They’re affordable, waterproof, and comfortable. The shaft is tall and narrow enough to wear under boots, which I love. These also come in a bunch of colors.
Rag & Bone Rover Boots 5 – These boots are stunning! I usually don’t go for boots with short shafts, but since pant lengths have gotten longer, they work (with fuller length pants). The heel is short, so they’re great for everyday. You’ll want to size up at least a half size (even a full size for thicker socks).
Stuart Weitzman Sock Boots 35 – I’ve had these boots for several years and I’m so glad they brought them back. They’re stunning and dress up any look. The tall, sock-like shaft is so flattering and easy to put on and off. A splurge, but so worth it!
Veja Venturi Sneakers 36 – These have been on my wishlist since last year. I love the neutral color! They do run very small, so size up at least a full size. These are a bulkier sneaker, so keep that in mind.
Special thank you to Nordstrom for partnering on this post.
It’s October and baby boy is 10 months old! This age has been so fun. He’s no longer just a blab, but can get around and really feels like part of the family now. Everyday after work I’ll play with him and love on him because I know this time is fleeting and the next thing I know, he’ll be 5 years old. I absolutely love this age and want to soak it all in. His smell, his plump cheeks, his breath, his tiny toes, it’s all so intoxicating. Yes, that’s how much I want to eat him up daily, ha!
We’re officially on a great schedule now that Harper is back in school. We were actually able to switch up our days with our nanny, so it really feels like we’re in a good flow. We’re currently doing 8am-3pm M-Th with our nanny. I’m still exclusively breastfeeding, so I get those little moments throughout the day with Cam, which are my favorite. I should also note, Cam loves our nanny, so it makes all of this so much easier.
New at 10 Months
The development and growth in year one is absolutely insane. I swear he was just a blab last week, lol. Cam is officially crawling! I think it all happened right when he turned 10 months. Little man is getting into everything and pulling up on anything in sight. We have to rethink the house because it feels like we can’t take our eyes off him for one second. We haven’t baby proofed anything yet, really. I think we put tape on a few outlets, but nothing else. Stay tuned to see what we end up doing. Cam developed his pincer grasp, so he’s having fun feeding himself. I can’t forget to mention all the yelling, pointing and babbling he’s doing. He’s getting very vocal and it’s the sweetest thing.
A note on crawling. Not until we made a concerted effort with floor time did Cam really start crawling. Tummy time and time on the floor are absolutely critical for this to develop. Harper only really army crawled and it was later right before she walked, so it wasn’t long. And now I know why – we didn’t dedicate time on the floor. We didn’t dedicate the time with Cam either up until 8-9 months. Once we did that, he got the hang of crawling. So, to any mamas out there trying to get their baby to crawl, it’s all about being on the floor. Start them from the beginning.
Naps
We are still doing 2 naps/day. He’s been giving us 1 good nap and 1 short nap. I was just talking to our nanny and we both said, maybe he’s just never going to be a good napper, lol. He sleeps well at night, can put himself to sleep, and all that, but naps are a struggle bus. We play with his awake time, we have him on the floor getting all his energy out, you name it and naps still aren’t consistent. I mentioned in my last monthly update, it’s not that big of a deal because of his age and being able to be up and happy, but still.
Feedings
We are still nursing 4x/day and having solids after the first 3 feedings. Cam’s been eating more variety everyday. We give him his Yumi purees, but we also give him whatever we’re eating – eggs, chicken, oatmeal, raviolis, pancakes, salmon, cheese, potatoes, etc. I’m officially the only plant-based eater in our household these days. Cam developed his pincer grasp, so he’s doing a good job feeding himself with some foods.
Awake Time
We are between 3-3.5 hours of awake time (3 in the morning and then gradually increasing). I think I’ve mentioned this before, but if we want to get out of the house to do something as a family, we like to go after his first nap. That way we can all prep ourselves to get out of the house in the morning/while he naps and then once Cam wakes, I’ll feed him, and we’re ready to go. This gives us the most time while we’re out before we have to get home for his nap. We do our best to spend his awake time on the floor playing to really tire him out. Lately, we’ve noticed that a walk or car ride before his nap really settles him down and he’ll go down easier. So we’ll tire him out, feed him solids, and then do a walk or car ride (if we’re running an errand or picking up Harper) right before his nap.
Bedtime
Bedtime has been going smoothly. Awake for 3.5 hours, bath, pajamas, then nurse him in a loud room (to keep him awake), say goodnight to Harper, and then I put him down awake. Usually takes him no more than 10 minutes before he’s asleep. Once he started to crawl, there was one night that he sat himself up in the middle of the night and he was sitting there whining/crying. We figured he’d lay himself down and go back to bed, but when Mike checked the monitor an hour later, he was still sitting in the same position, lol. Mike went in and laid him down, he cried for a bit, but then went back to sleep. After that one night, he never did it again, lol.
Favorites at 10 Months
Nuna REVV Car Seat – We recently got this car seat and absolutely love it! The swivel feature to get Cam in and out of the car seat is a game changer!
Inglesina Table Chair – We’ve been using this every time we leave the house. I prefer this chair over a high chair since it sits right at the table (versus below it with the high chair).
Crate & Kids Walker – We just got this for Cam. It’s cute, neutral, and does the job. We had a similar one with Harper and she loved it.
Best Ride On Cars Fiat 500 Push Car – Cam loves this car! It’s actually well done compared to some of the other push cars I’ve seen. Doors are functional, the wheels move with handle, and there’s foot tray that moves in and out.
Mushi Feeding Bibs – love these! Catches food, cute, and seems comfortable.
10 Month Schedule
6:30am – wakes and plays in crib 7:00am – grab him, change his clothes/diaper, and nurse 7:30am – awake time, go for a walk 8:30am – solids 9:30am – Nap 1
10:30am – wake and nurse 11:00am – play 12:30pm – solids/lunch 2:00pm – Nap 2
3:00pm – wake and nurse 3:30pm – play 4:30pm – solids/dinner 6:10pm – nurse 6:30pm – bedtime
Oh September! When fall arrives, but it’s too hot to really wear any of your fall things, lol. We’ve actually had a few cooler days toward the end of the month which have been so nice. I’ve been really enjoying this in-between time where I can actually get away with wearing light sweaters or tees with jeans or pants, and even mixing in sandals. It’s such a short window, so I’m trying to relish in this time. I’ve also recently started sharing my at-home “real” outfits everyday, so there’s a few of those mixed in here as well. Enjoy these light layers as I’m sure next month’s roundup will look a lot different.
